Labour Candidate Richard Davies Announced for Otley By Election

Richard story here.

The by-election has been called because former Liberal Democrat town councillor Savannah Dabill was forced to step down, after non-attendance at council meetings. Currently the Liberal Democrats have 15 out of 20 seats on the town council and there is no Labour representative.

Otley’s MP Alex Sobel said,”I know that Richard, if elected, would be a very effective and hardworking town councillor. It’s so important that all parties are represented on the town council. When one party dominates with an overwhelming majority, it’s not healthy for democracy or balanced decision-making.”
